Assembly Production Supervisor

About the Role

Legrand is seeking an Assembly Production Supervisor to join the Audio Video Division Team in Union, OH. This position directs and supervises assembly personnel and all associated activities, implementing Lean manufacturing systems and strategy to ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, provide exceptional customer service, develop a technically qualified workforce, reduce operating costs, and lead times through continuous improvements.

Responsibilities

• Schedule raw material replenishments and put-aways according to job priorities and reevaluate the workload numerous times throughout the day.
• Monitor headcount and adjust the workforce utilizing temporary staff to ensure sufficient capacity to meet internal and external customers’ needs.
• Ensure processes are followed and held to the highest quality standards.
• Ensure all MHE operators follow proper processes and procedures in their daily duties.
• Work with the Assembly and Manufacturing Engineering teams to analyze and solve workflow problems to maximize efficiency and product output.
• Lead daily materials meetings and provide status updates on production orders that have missed scheduled production dates.
• Direct the Returned Goods rework process and ensure all RMAs (Returned Material Authorization) are processed in a timely manner.
• Review, update, and manage shop floor employees’ Time & Attendance records in the Time Management System.
• Review product replenishment reports for local warehouses and coordinate assembly and transfer of products to fulfill requirements.
• Work with the inventory team to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement procedural changes to eliminate issues.
• Act as a liaison between multiple functional areas to resolve issues affecting production and product delivery.
• Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve shop floor metrics.
• Assist with the creation, development, and implementation of processes and procedures.
• Effectively manage, develop, and motivate direct and indirect reports.
• Handle all aspects of performance management, including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluations, and recognition.
• Provide constructive feedback and leadership to foster a positive team atmosphere and ensure personal and professional development of direct reports.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information, protect organizational assets, and adhere to applicable laws and company policies.
• Understand workplace hazards, proactively prevent and report them, and cooperate in safety programs and investigations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment or 5-7 years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment or a combination of relevant education and experience.
• Previous experience with ERP systems.

• High degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and personal computers.

• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

• Ability to work long hours and weekends as required to support core business needs.

• Production Planning system experience.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, reach above shoulder level, reach below knee level, bend/twist/stoop, squat/kneel, climb, and lift/carry up to 40 lbs (occasionally up to 40 lbs).
• May include pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
• Regularly requires coordinated finger movements for data entry on a keyboard.
• Steel-toed shoes are required.
• Regular shop assembly/distribution center environment (no air conditioning).
