ASSEMBLY OPERATOR III - 2nd Shift Fairview

About the Role

This opening is for an Assembly Operator III working directly with fiber optics. The position is responsible for optical connector assembly, termination of various configurations of fiber optic cable assemblies, and testing of these cable assemblies. This individual may assist in process development and resolution of problems encountered in bringing new optical products from concept to market. The role requires a self-starter who can work well under schedule pressures and balance workload as priorities change. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, a desire to continually learn, and a focus on serving the customer. The ideal candidate works well in teams, has the desire to learn, possesses strong hand-eye coordination, and maintains attention to detail to produce quality products.

Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area, following safety guidelines, and adhering to all TE Connectivity's policies and procedures. Schedule

2nd shift: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM (10% shift differential).

Responsibilities

• Polish and test fiber optic cables.
• Assemble and package fiber optic connector components (as needed).
• Terminate single and multi-fiber cables.
• Operate fiber router and complete over-molding process (as needed).
• Support prototype product builds, test product builds, and pre-release NPI builds (as needed).
• Measure components using calipers, gages, or other measuring devices.
• Complete operational paperwork to maintain product traceability.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to equipment.
• Understand cleaning methods and contamination assessment for optical assembly.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude to safely and efficiently operate equipment (E-Stop/Soft Stop) and identify issues.
• Suggest process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiencies.
• Communicate within a team to ensure clarity of purpose and customer satisfaction.
• After a 30-day training period, work with limited supervision to deliver timely and quality products.
• Inspect own work and products using quality standards, work instructions, and prints.
• Work in a clean room environment wearing required gowning and PPE (gowns, shoe booties, hair nets, nitrile gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes).
• Available to work overtime to support production goals as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to distinguish between color-coded fiber optic cables to ensure accurate assembly, installation, and quality standards.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of assembly manufacturing experience with knowledge of manufacturing principles (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a fiber optic manufacturing environment preferred.
• SAP Manufacturing and ISO 9001 experience preferred.
• Proficient hand-eye dexterity and motor skills for intricate/delicate work.
• Working knowledge of hand tools and blueprint reading preferred.
• Ability to work with small parts in a clean room environment using a microscope.
• Good time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Attention to detail (following bill of material, job routers, and understanding drawings/prints).
• Team-oriented with the ability to work effectively and cohesively with others.
• Accountability for own work and respect for confidential information.
• A safe and quality-conscious attitude, adhering to safety and quality requirements.
• Ability to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
• Ability to operate machinery and move between work zones.
• Proficiency in understanding written instructions in English.

Pay

Competitive base salary: $23/hour (subject to change based on physical location). Total compensation includes base salary, incentives, and benefits.
