JOB SUMMARY
The Assembly Operator is responsible for assisting and supporting coworkers and performing repetitive assembly operations to mass-produce business class seating furniture. The Assembly Operator must be able to work within the time constraints of the master production schedule and meet requirements dictated by the customer.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
- Build and assemble complex mechanisms, structures, and assemblies per latest specified drawings and specifications. Tasks may include the installation of screws, rivets, seals, fasteners, upholstery, electrical wiring, and other various hardware
- Maintain and repair production equipment and tools. Promptly notify the manager of any needed repairs or issues.
- Ensure products are built and assembled to the latest revision of released engineering drawings
- Able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
- Ensure work orders and traceability books are maintained and completed throughout the manufacturing cycle
- Maintain safe and effective use of all machine and hand tools as well as a safe work environment
- Report any defects to quality assurance and manufacturing engineers
- Promote cooperation and positive communication with co-workers
- Follow installation procedures per ECI engineering drawings and requirements
- Clean and prepares production units for fabricating, painting, assembly, or shipping
- Mix and apply adhesives to manufacturers specifications as well as Engineering requirements
- Place parts in specified relationship to each other
- Verify unit dimensions before installing inserts, rivets, blind nuts, blocks, angles, doublers, and fittings
- Bond, screw, glue or otherwise attach parts together
- Rivet metal or sheet metal parts as required
- Install attachment fittings, as assigned
- Prepare and organize tools and parts for use in the manufacturing area
- Work at different workstations as production needs require
- Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment
- Tasks vary as different units complete certain phases of production
- Perform other duties as assigned by production supervisor
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred
- Experience: 1 - 3+ years of direct experience
- Other: Extended or irregular hours may be required
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSE
- Basic electrical knowledge (e.g., switch assembly/installation/wiring and related tools)
- Composite fabrication including hand layup and vacuum assisted RTM
