About the Role
The Assembly Mechanic II assembles complex mechanical systems and leads critical build processes across multiple product lines. As a subject matter expert on assembly practices, this role involves troubleshooting, process improvement, and mentoring junior team members.
Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical and pneumatic components into sub-assemblies across multiple models in each product line.
- Ensure proper fit of all parts by drilling, grinding, or shimming to adjust to a proper fit.
- Read and follow engineering drawings with minimal supervision on complex machines.
- Use a variety of electrical, hydraulic, and air-activated hand tools.
- Prepare assembly of machines by collecting and organizing required parts.
- Prepare parts for assembly through material prep techniques including blasting and painting.
- Move large parts and machines around the manufacturing floor using a forklift or overhead crane.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical assembly within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and assemble products or their parts.
- Familiarity with assembly and measuring tools, ability to interpret visual aids, and perform simple math.
- Ability to operate equipment, troubleshoot, and problem solve.
- Organized with strong attention to detail, dedicated to quality and safety.
- Ability to frequently stand, bend, and reach.
- Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience assembling custom or engineered-to-order equipment.
- Prior experience in wastewater, industrial equipment, or heavy machinery manufacturing.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience (Kaizen, 5S, etc.).
