About the role

Maag Reduction Inc. is seeking an Assembly Technician to assemble the Maag family of equipment, including Pelletizers, Pulverizers, Water Baths, Air Knives, Water Slides, Pumps, Screen Changers, Conveying Equipment, and Color Mixers. The role emphasizes 100% on-time delivery to meet customer expectations and needs.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, layout drawings, and electrical prints.
• Measure components using micrometers, feeler gauges, and understand tolerances on assembly prints.
• Apply general knowledge of pneumatic circuits, cylinders, valves, regulators, and controls.
• Work with threaded and welded pipe, valves, fittings, and related hardware for installation.
• Position parts and subassemblies by lifting, bending, and kneeling; work overhead from kneeling or laying positions; lift up to 50 lbs.
• Document labor hours electronically or on written production logs; complete production and quality forms; report discrepancies in work order material BOMs.
• Run conduit, mount junction boxes, and pull wire to electrical devices and motors; terminate wires per electrical drawings.
• Participate in team continuous improvement projects, track metrics, and attend daily meetings.
• Operate and lift objects using overhead cranes with slings, straps, or other devices.
• Prioritize quality, accident prevention, occupational safety, and environmental safety; actively support damage prevention for people, facilities, assets, and materials.
• Perform tasks requested by management, including overtime and weekend work as needed.
• Complete forklift training and operate forklifts safely, including mandatory seatbelt use.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (additional technical skills a plus).
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with basic mechanics or millwright hand tool use (desirable).
• Completion of Mechanics or Millwright courses (desirable but not required).
• Knowledge of overhead crane operation (desirable but not required).
• Engineering background or understanding of engineering practices (desirable but not required).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented.
• Independent self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
• Team player with a strong work ethic and commitment to customer satisfaction.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
• Adherence to company safety practices and policies.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and electrical drawings (desirable).
• Familiarity with pneumatics and hydraulics (desirable).

Work Environment

• Work primarily in Kent assembly areas within a factory setting.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise levels; PPE may be required.
• Strict adherence to all company safety policies and PPE requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Good physical condition with the ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).
• Frequent forklift operation, including movement to and from trucks; seatbelt use is mandatory.
• Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb.
• Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
• Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 1st shift. Possible weekends or holidays as needed.

Pay

Pay is determined based on job-related factors, including responsibilities, work experience, education/training, location, and key skills. This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria.
