About the role
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Manufacturing Assembler to join our Rochester, NY manufacturing team. This position is responsible for assembling components, subassemblies, and finished products according to work instructions, drawings, specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. The role requires strong hands-on assembly skills, sound mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity. The Manufacturing Assembler will also support production documentation, basic troubleshooting, process improvements, and collaboration with quality, engineering, and operations teams. This position is ideal for someone with prior manufacturing assembly experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment and contributing to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assemble products, components, and subassemblies using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and/or basic production equipment according to established work instructions, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Follow standard work procedures and production schedules to complete assigned tasks accurately, efficiently, and on time while maintaining consistent quality and workmanship.
- Maintain accurate production records, including counts, completed work, inspection results, materials used, and other required documentation or system entries.
- Inspect parts, components, and finished assemblies for defects, proper fit, workmanship, and conformance to quality standards, and report nonconforming materials or process concerns.
- Support a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following all safety procedures, proper tool usage, housekeeping expectations, and 5S/lean manufacturing practices.
- Collaborate with team members, leads, supervisors, quality, and engineering support staff to troubleshoot basic assembly issues, improve workflow, and meet daily production goals.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing assembly, production assembly, mechanical assembly, or closely related manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions, standard operating procedures, drawings, diagrams, bills of material, and production documentation.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, torque tools, drills, presses, measuring devices, or other common assembly equipment.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and ability to work assigned shift hours.
- Ability to inspect work for defects, workmanship, proper fit, and conformance to quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy during repetitive or detailed assembly tasks.
- Basic math skills, including counting, measuring, and reading simple dimensions.
- Basic computer or tablet skills for entering production information, completing training, or reviewing work instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate issues clearly to a lead or supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED required.

Pay
$22.00 to $26.00 per hour depending on precise required Assembly and required skills experiences. This range reflects Carestream’s good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate’s experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.
