Assembler
About the role
Assemblers are an essential part of Enerpac’s manufacturing operations, responsible for building high‑quality hydraulic tools, pumps, and components that meet performance and safety standards. The role includes assembling mechanical and sub‑assembly components, performing product testing, conducting quality inspections, troubleshooting issues, maintaining accurate inventory transactions, and supporting continuous improvement. Assemblers also help sustain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment by following standardized work instructions, 5S practices, and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Assemble pumps, industrial tools, and hydraulic components following work instructions and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Prepare mechanical assemblies, sub‑assemblies, and components using hand tools and light power tools (e.g., torque wrench).
- Recommend updates to work instructions or BOMs to improve accuracy and repeatability.
- Perform product and component testing per defined procedures; operate test stands to ensure products are assembled and functioning correctly.
- Troubleshoot assembly or test failures to support quality and production flow.
- Conduct quality inspections of parts and products throughout the assembly process.
- Maintain accurate inventory and data entry to ensure materials and components remain correctly transacted.
- Cross‑train team members on cells or product lines; share expertise and collaborate to meet production schedules and performance goals.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas using 5S techniques; follow all safety rules, wear required PPE, and report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production needs.
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: Low to moderate mechanical, technical, and/or analytic knowledge; previous manufacturing or assembly experience preferred. Familiarity with assembly tools and equipment is a plus.
Physical demands: Ability to lift 1–30 lb intermittently and up to 40 lb for documents/materials; walk to various work locations; manual dexterity for assembling/repairing small parts for extended periods; ability to listen, understand, and communicate with team members.
Work environment: Manufacturing setting near moving mechanical parts and vibration; exposure to elevated noise levels on the plant floor.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail for delivering high‑quality assembled products.
- Effective teamwork and communication; willingness to train others.
- Logical reasoning for test interpretation and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with hand tools and light power tools.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and basic blueprints.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, structured manufacturing environment.
Schedule
Shift: Monday – Friday; 6:00 am – 2:30 pm or 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, with Saturdays as needed when production demands exist.
Advancement Opportunities
Enerpac provides clear growth paths based on demonstrated performance and skill development. Advancement from Assembler I to Assembler II is based on verified proficiency in functional skills (assembly accuracy, testing & troubleshooting, quality & inspection, data & inventory accuracy, cross‑training, process improvement, 5S, organization & safety), core values (Safety, Integrity, Ownership, Teamwork, Agility), and professional competencies (focus on results, adaptability, communication, data‑driven decision making, resilience, innovation). Employees who sustain proficiency may be considered for promotion and associated pay range.
