About the role
As a Specialized Assembly Operator at Allegion, you will be responsible for equipment performance output metrics and the quality of parts processed through the Specialized Assembly Department. You will also handle the manual operation and autonomous maintenance of the equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble housings and cylinders
- Perform fill, test, and regulate functions on closers to ensure proper operation
- Adjust mechanisms to ensure smooth and intended operation
- Build sub-assemblies for stations, including speed controls, end plugs, couplers, rams, piston heads, and ball/nut assemblies
- Perform quality checks on parts and products
- Follow safety regulations and maintain clean work areas and equipment using 5S standards
- Flexibility to work overtime as required
- Perform tasks in a timely and accurate manner
- May perform other duties as assigned and extend into other areas as needed
Requirements
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships
- Work effectively in independent situations and exercise good judgment
- Use Kanban workflow for optimal build performance
- Follow written and verbal instructions, schedules, rules, and procedures
- Read, interpret, and perform from various documents (method sheets, safety rules, Kanban cards, shop schedules, manuals, etc.)
- Identify and obtain appropriate parts for work station operation
- Use CRT and data entry technologies (bar code, key entry) and work with AS400 computer application
- General knowledge of machinery related to areas of responsibility
- Judge distances, spatial relationships, and perform visual/mechanical inspections; distinguish colors and finishes
- Basic math and computer skills
Physical Requirements
- Manual dexterity; use of fingers and hands to feel, handle, or squeeze
- Reach with hands and arms; twist/turn body; perform repetitive motions
- Stand, walk, and/or sit frequently and for extended periods
- Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
- Frequently lift up to 5 pounds, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and rarely lift up to 60 pounds (assistance required for lifts over 35 pounds)
Mechanical Requirements
- Use two-hand palm buttons
- Use pneumatic tools
- Use testing equipment
Environmental Requirements
- Exposure to various chemicals (greases, oils, adhesives) in safe, approved amounts
- Exposure to temperature changes
- Exposure to moderate noise levels with intermittent loud noises
- Exposure to vibration
- Exposure to dirt and/or dust
- Exposure to sharp objects and parts
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, protected by approved guarding and controls
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of related experience
Pay
The expected base hourly range is $18.50–$25.77. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
