Assembler - 1st Shift

Assembler roles (I, II, III) focus on manufacturing products efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Responsibilities include validating materials, following work instructions, building products to specifications, and adhering to safety protocols.

Schedule

5:00 am–3:00 pm, Tuesday–Friday

Pay

$19.10 per hour

Responsibilities

• Perform assembly work using work instructions, drawings, schematics, and electronic assembly equipment while complying with safety and operational standards.
• Validate materials before assembly and build products per specifications and tolerances.
• Complete clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
• Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules, including wearing appropriate PPE.
• Cross-train in multiple assembly areas and flex to other departments as needed.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of assembled products and their business impact.
• Continuously learn job-related principles, practices, and processes.
• Follow established procedures, policies, and demonstrate good attendance, quality, and attention to detail.
• Participate in team meetings to exchange job-related information.

Assembler I

• Perform basic assembly tasks.
• Resolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisors.

Assembler II

• Perform complex assembly tasks.
• Train other employees.
• Resolve problems with assistance from peers or supervisors based on complexity.
• Access information within ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and contribute to process improvements.

Assembler III

• Perform complex assembly tasks and lead problem-solving efforts (e.g., 5 Why, 8D, PDCA).
• Frequently train other employees on work instructions and standard work.
• Use initiative and judgment to implement countermeasures for production-related concerns.
• Proficiently access and perform transactions within ERP systems.
• Lead team meetings and solve problems independently within designated authority.
• Suggest and implement improvements for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Assembler I: Ability to perform highly repetitive assembly tasks in a manufacturing environment.
• Assembler II: High school diploma or equivalent and/or 1 year of complex assembly or related experience. Internal candidates must demonstrate Assembler II competency.
• Assembler III: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of complex assembly or related experience. Internal candidates must demonstrate Assembler III competency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Assembler I: High school diploma or equivalent; manufacturing experience, including knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Assembler II: Experience using SAP or equivalent ERP system.
• Assembler III:
  • Experience in root cause problem-solving (e.g., 5 Why, 8D, PDCA).
  • Experience training employees on work instructions or standard work.
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics).

Skills

• Assembler I:

  • Ability to understand and execute standard procedures, interpret visual diagrams, and use advanced tooling.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge (e.g., electronic work instructions).
  • Understands principles of basic machine operations.
• Assembler III:
  • Consistently follows through on team commitments, communicates effectively, and demonstrates accountability.
  • Ability to understand and execute advanced standard procedures, interpret visual diagrams, and use advanced tooling.
  • Problem-solving with minimal guidance.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
• Regularly required to stand and walk.
• Occasionally required to stoop, bend, or reach above shoulders.
• Must occasionally lift up to 25–50 pounds.
• Frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Occasional travel may be required.
