Asphalt Screed Operator

About the role

The asphalt screed operator works under the direction of the paving foreman to control material placement and depths using an asphalt screed. This role involves manipulating hand controls to direct the screed's movements, spreading and leveling asphalt on subgrade. The operator also performs routine maintenance and assists in setting up screed electronics.

Responsibilities

• Match paver joints and maintain consistent jointing.
• Ensure the screed is adjusted properly and maintains mat quality.
• Assist with handwork as needed.
• Set up screed electronics in conjunction with the Paver Operator.
• Affirm proper storage and maintenance of all screed equipment.
• Perform job site clean-up.

Requirements

• Self-motivated.
• Ability to work well with subordinates, peers, and supervisors.
• Ambitious.

Physical Demands

• Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, low-level work, reaching, bending, trunk movements.
• Lifting minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers.
• Sight, hearing, and talking.
