Asphalt Quality Control Manager – ASCO

About the role

This position involves running daily production controls on virgin materials and asphalt mixtures, communicating with state and city officials and engineers, and maintaining organized data for future planning and costing of asphalt mixtures. You will work directly with Libs Paving and ASCO management on design needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform all testing in the lab and on-site as required for municipal, INDOT, and KYTC projects.
• Design all private, INDOT, and KYTC mixes in-house for maximum cost-effectiveness and quality.
• Explore newer technologies for cost savings and design new asphalt mixes to increase efficiencies.
• Conduct full volumetric testing.
• Work with State Inspectors, Public Works Inspectors, State Engineers, and District Engineers.
• Upload Job Mix Formula (JMF) to state entities and have experience working with AMAWs.
• Understand how to run/teach PQI operations.
• Perform daily/weekly quality control of mixes to ensure they are within specification.
• Conduct daily/weekly cost control of mixes to ensure production is cost-effective while maintaining quality and workability (e.g., moistures, gradations, extractions).
• Proactively obtain feedback from asphalt paving crews and report back to the General Manager.
• Work as a team member with asphalt plant team members and maintain open communication with the parent company, Libs Paving.
• Assist with other asphalt plant operations as necessary.

Requirements

• Five-year minimum quality lab experience in hot asphalt mixture.
• Mix design certification preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain INDOT and KYTC lab certifications.
• Proficient in basic math.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Dependable with good to excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Construction industry experience, knowledge, or training required.
• Able to withstand various climate conditions, including extreme heat and humidity.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
