About the role

Bearcat Transportation is seeking an experienced ASPHALT EMULSIONS SPREAD TRUCK DRIVER to join our team. This position involves operating an asphalt distributor to apply specialized emulsions to roadways, coordinating with a chip spreader, and ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate asphalt distributor truck equipped with tank to spray asphalt emulsions on road surfaces.
  • Connect hose from storage tank to truck tank and move lever to fill pressure tank with asphalt liquid.
  • Regulate burner to heat liquid and start cargo pump.
  • Understand and adjust spray bars to attain required width of spray.
  • Regulate flow of material at specified rate and adjust switches to adjust height of spray bar from road surface.
  • Maintain and monitor flow gages, tachometer, and temperature gauge to ensure uniform distribution.
  • Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel, and inspect for leaks and damage to machine before operation.
  • Shoot tack, prime, and seal on a daily basis, as needed.
  • Ensure the efficient working condition of the equipment; perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • May perform other related duties as instructed.
  • Use of side mirrors required.
  • Use of basic math computations to figure shot, distance, usage, etc...

Requirements

  • One year or more experience operating an asphalt distributor truck.
  • Class A and Tanker endorsement.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to comply with FMCSA regulations, understand traffic signs, communicate with law enforcement, and complete required records.

  • Flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime).

  • Transportation to departure area.
