ASL Interpreter (Sacramento Area)
Job description
This is an independent contractor position offering a flexible work schedule and ongoing opportunities. The interpreter will provide professional interpreting services primarily in healthcare settings. Job site locations are mainly in Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties, available on a regular basis, depending on the demand for specific languages and the interpreters' qualifications.
Qualifications
- Fluency in American Sign Language and English
- Demonstrated experience providing accurate, complete, and clear interpretation in medical, and community settings, with the highest level of fidelity to the original communication
- Strong ability to interpret in American Sign Language and English
- Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Skilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders
- Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience
- Willingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination/immunization records and background checks, as necessary
- Possession of a valid California license
