Asian Wok Specialist (Luk Fu) - Bossier City

About the role

Prepares, seasons, and cooks soups, meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, desserts, and other Pan Asian food items. Cooks, prepares, and arranges the food to create an appealing presentation for guests. Ensures guests have a favorable dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare items and maintain their temperature.
• Season and garnish food.
• Prepare all soups and sauces.
• Keep the cooking area clean and orderly.
• Maintain inventory and order food items daily.
• Ensure the safety and security of employees and guests.
• Monitor and adjust performance relative to local competition as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Culinary arts courses or equivalent experience.
• One to three years’ experience as a line cook in an Asian restaurant.
• Ability to work in an environment with alcohol and smoking.
• Ability to secure and maintain licensure as required by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board or other applicable regulatory entities.

Skills

• Ability to use all kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Ability to read and write basic instructions.
• Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Creativity in cooking and food preparation.
• Ability to read and interpret production lists, menus, and banquet event orders.
• Accurate record-keeping skills.
• Knowledge of sanitation and health department regulations for safe food handling.
• Ability to communicate in English and fluently in at least one Asian language (e.g., Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods without sitting or leaning.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach while carrying food product, equipment, or trash/waste weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to lift, carry, and deliver food items weighing up to 50 pounds throughout a shift.
• Ability to work around 500-degree ovens and within 40-degree walk-in refrigerators.
• Ability to stand and walk continually throughout a 10-hour shift.
