About the role
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team. This position requires proficiency in utilizing all Wok Station equipment and other kitchen tools. A deep understanding of Asian cooking styles and techniques, including wok station and stir-fry, is essential.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Asian cooking styles and techniques.
- Ensure that the quality, taste, and presentation of Asian dishes meet or exceed customer expectations and Food & Beverage standards.
- Assist with the Sushi station as needed.
- Prepare a la carte and buffet food items under the guidance of cooks and Sous Chefs.
- Assist in the preparation of food items as directed.
- Adhere to proper cleanliness and sanitation standards as outlined by ServSafe.
- Understand and follow proper time/temperature controls for food safety.
- Properly label and date food products before storage.
- Conduct FIFO procedures when stocking or replenishing coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas.
- Accurately monitor and document hot food holding temperature logs.
- Initiate a positive guest experience by providing a warm welcome, greeting, and farewell.
- Operate basic kitchen cooking equipment safely and correctly.
- Clean workstation and equipment thoroughly at the end of each shift.
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand a limited number of two- and three-syllable words.
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- ServSafe Certification.
- Prior experience in Asian cooking.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stands for extended periods.
- Frequent walking and reaching with hands and arms.
- Occasional lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- Noisy work environment.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to standing, walking, reaching, tasting, smelling, and operating kitchen equipment.
- Exposure to various environmental conditions including noise, temperature extremes, and chemical hazards.
- Must be able to perform tasks requiring physical effort and attention to detail.
