ASC PreOp/PACU Nurse

Banner Surgery Center-Sports Medicine, managed by Atlas Healthcare Partners, is a newly built facility located at 7400 N. Dobson Rd in Scottsdale. Part of a dynamic group of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), it focuses on orthopedics and can adapt to all specialties, featuring six operating rooms and twenty-two pre/post care bays. About the role

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. The role is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction, utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide care appropriate to patients' physical and developmental age.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and post-operative planning needs.
• Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family, ensuring completion within appropriate timeframes.
• Reviews diagnostics, laboratory data, and reports abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
• Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
• Formulates a plan of care, including discharge planning, using assessment data and input from patients, families, and the health team.
• Initiates a realistic, measurable plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and multidisciplinary team.
• Considers physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific, and educational needs in care planning.
• Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs.
• Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team.
• Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, complying with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Promotes continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
• Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan as needed.
• Evaluates patient progress toward goals in collaboration with the health care team.
• Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring legibility, timeliness, and accuracy.
• Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provides care based on best evidence available and may participate in research activities.
• Participates in facility shared leadership, education, role development, and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
• Promotes growth of others through precepting and mentoring.
• Contributes to society through activities leading to excellent patient outcomes.
• Actively participates in improving national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, including participation in professional organizations.
• May provide relief charge for staff and workflow management in some locations.
• Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Provides excellent service by consistently demonstrating core and leader behaviors.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing, or higher, required.
• Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license, or compact RN licensure.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• PALS certification required within 90 days of start date if assigned to pediatric services.

Qualifications

• Full-Time/Part-Time (Core): Minimum one-year licensed RN experience in PreOp/PACU (e.g., ICU, ED).
• Full-Time/Part-Time (New to PreOp/PACU): Licensed RN with no experience in PreOp/PACU but enrolled in Perianesthesia Academy with successful completion within 4 months.
• New Licensed RN: Enrolled in the Perianesthesia Academy with successful completion within 4 months.
• PRN: Minimum two years licensed RN experience in PreOp/PACU.

Preferred Qualifications

• PreOp/PACU licensed RN experience strongly preferred.

Pay
