Artillery Repairer (2424) - ATSS *TEMP*

About the role

Temporary Hourly - Union position at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, with a position duration until December 2026 and the possibility of becoming permanent. Serves as a working crew member.

Responsibilities

• Inspection, cleaning, disassembly, repair, and replacement of parts and assemblies, and the adjustment and reassembly of towed, self-propelled, and turret artillery and their associated mounts and carriages.
• Work includes Stryker, Abrams, and other large caliber direct fire weapon systems.
• Takes measurements and ensures safe operation of the artillery and equipment.
• Operates overhead cranes.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening (periodic retests).
• Must be able to successfully complete a background screening.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain it for the duration of employment.

Qualifications

• Must have three (3) years experience as an automotive mechanic or two (2) years military background in artillery, which includes using common hand tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, and spring weighting machines.
• Must possess an Overhead Bridge Crane operator license within six (6) months of employment.
• Must possess an Ammunition Certification Level I in accordance with ATC Regulation 350-8 within six (6) months of employment.
• Must possess a Forklift License.
