Work arrangement

Remote work must be performed while residing in California, New Mexico, Florida or Massachusetts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and engagement
• Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs
• Employ teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter via synchronous online format (Microsoft Teams)
• Maintain current certifications in subjects taught
• Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline
• Connect subject matter with related fields
• Stay current in subject matter through professional development, professional organizations, and attendance at conferences or workshops
• Ensure student database is fully updated and accurate regarding student grade record information
• Maintain compliance with accreditation requirements related to instructional quality, scheduled class hours, and CIAT policies
• Promote collaboration with other staff members and participate in implementation of new projects and ideas
• Adhere to CIAT business casual attire policy (neat, clean clothing without rips or holes)

Requirements

• Official transcripts of bachelor’s (or higher) degree and active/current certification on the subject being taught
• Official transcripts of bachelor’s and master’s (or higher) degrees that include at least 18 units on the subject being taught (General Education Instructors)
• At least three years’ experience in the respective field OR two years of teaching experience
• Advanced subject matter expertise preferred in:
  • Python programming and data science libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Scikit-learn)
  • AI/ML fundamentals (supervised/unsupervised learning, NLP, and gen AI concepts)
  • Familiarity with Azure AI services and/or other cloud-based AI platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud)
• Synchronous online teaching experience preferred
• Effective presentation skills
• High level of flexibility, creativity, and dependability
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as learning technologies such as Canvas
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to multitask and problem solve rapidly and effectively
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, academic departments, and administration to support student success and institutional goals
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that respects student diversity
• Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and didactic approaches in higher education
• Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and effective lesson plans that meet diverse student needs
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Adherence to college policies, procedures, and regulations including academic integrity and student conduct
• Ability to embody CIAT’s mission, vision, purpose, and values

Schedule

• Variable-hour position; days and hours are usually Monday through Friday
• Weekend and evening hours are required
• Live classes are scheduled twice a week (Monday and Tuesday) from 6:00 pm–9:30 pm Pacific Time

Physical Demands

• Essential functions require sitting for extended periods
• Ability to type, use a computer to search for information, and input information while speaking on the phone
• Frequent use of computer, mouse, and telephone to conduct regular tasks
• Compute simple to simple mathematical calculations as a normal part of the role

Work Environment

• Remote home office environment
• Use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and virtual communication tools
• Responsibility to maintain a safe and ergonomic home office
• Adherence to data security and confidentiality policies; use of secure connections for all work-related activities
