Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Valid Maine Teacher Certification in Visual Arts (K–12) or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Current Maine Department of Education (MDOE) Criminal History Records Check.
- Experience with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and the BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) program is preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills and a passion for project-based, student-centered learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging visual arts instruction aligned with state standards and district curriculum.
- Teach a range of media and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and digital art.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and artistic abilities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and confidence.
- Implement PBIS strategies to encourage positive behavior and maintain a structured, respectful learning space.
- Utilize the BARR program to build strong relationships with students and support their academic and social-emotional development.
- Organize and display student artwork within the school and at community events or exhibitions.
- Collaborate with colleagues across content areas and participate in interdisciplinary projects.
- Integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning and creative expression.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in arts education.
