Responsibilities

• Prepares the room to provide suitable learning environment and promote student motivation.
• Teaches knowledge and skills in art, art history, and/or three-dimensional art to secondary pupils.
• Provides instruction by which pupils develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations, and the ability to make qualitative judgment about art.
• Demonstrates techniques in activities such as drawing, painting, and modeling, using standard and/or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
• Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time as determined with site administrator.
• Instructs pupils in proper area and use of tools and equipment.
• Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection.
• Evaluates each pupil’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepares progress reports.
• Plans and presents, when required, art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit pupil’s work for the school and the community.
• Sponsors exhibits from outside sources after it has been cleared with Department Chairperson and Principal.
• Operates equipment necessary to subject being taught.
• Develops weekly lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy and curriculum of the District.
• Provides students with the opportunity to partake in daily patriotic observance.
• Maintains a clean and safe classroom environment, notifying principal of any unclean or unsafe classroom conditions.
• Makes students responsible for putting materials, supplies, tools, etc., safely and neatly away at the end of the class session.

Requirements

• Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential: Art
• English Learner Authorization
• The CTC screenshot of your credential must include your name, document number, authorization code and description, issue date, and expiration date. A certificate suitable for framing copy and/or expired copies of your credential will not be accepted.
• A detailed copy of your credential can be obtained on the Commission on Teacher Credentialing website (ctc.ca.gov).
• Copy of Transcript (All undergraduate and graduate coursework.)
• Two (2) letters of recommendation - must be signed and dated within the last 24 months. Only wet signatures and e-signatures will be accepted; names typed out in a stylized font will not be accepted as a signature. Letters from relatives are not acceptable.
