The position is full-time with a 1:2 call schedule. The APP is called in on average 10-15 times per year for procedures. The role involves working closely with cardiothoracic surgeons and vascular surgeons, providing a full range of cardiology services including non-invasive, invasive, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures.
About the role
The department is part of a 342-bed regional referral teaching hospital with Level III trauma capabilities. It is located at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, which is a part of a larger regional health system serving 14 counties in northern Iowa. The facility offers various educational programs and is committed to providing high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Performing complex cardiovascular procedures under the supervision of cardiologists and surgeons
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care
- Managing a caseload of at least 100 vein harvests to meet the requirements of the position
- Assisting in the operation of the hospital’s catheterization laboratories
- Participating in ongoing professional development through continuing medical education (CME)
Requirements
- Board Certified as an ARNP or PA
- Ability to obtain an Iowa medical license, DEA, and CSA
- MercyOne North Iowa medical staff privileges
- A minimum of 100 vein harvests within the past 5 years
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- At least 5 years of clinical experience
