About the role
The Role The Armed Supervisor oversees daily security operations across multiple Bay Area client sites and leads a team of armed and unarmed officers. This role serves as the on-the-ground point of contact for client managers and demands strong leadership, sharp situational awareness, and a hands-on approach to maintaining safety and security.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise armed and unarmed security personnel across multiple Bay Area client sites
Conduct routine credential checks (Guard Cards, Exposed Firearm Permits, and any applicable less-than-lethal certifications) to verify staff readiness and compliance
Engage directly with client and store managers to assess security needs, gather feedback, and implement operational improvements
Ensure all security posts are properly staffed and step in to cover posts during call-offs, shortages, or emergencies
Respond promptly to security incidents and coordinate with law enforcement when required
Manage scheduling, timekeeping, and workforce coverage using Rippling, ensuring shifts are properly assigned with adequate coverage
Review and document all security incidents, ensuring reports meet GS3 and legal standards
Conduct weekly and monthly performance reviews to assess team performance and identify training needs
Implement and train officers on Striven software to enhance reporting accuracy and operational workflows
Uphold strict confidentiality and client privacy expectations at all times
Required Licensing & Certifications
Active California BSIS Security Guard Registration (Guard Card)
Active California BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit
Valid California driver's license
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum of 3 years of experience in security supervision, guard operations, law enforcement, military, or comparable operational leadership roles
Demonstrated track record supervising armed and/or unarmed guard personnel across multiple posts
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and discretion
Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in an on-call rotation
Support assignments across the greater Bay Area
Nice to Have
California BSIS Baton Permit
OC Pepper Spray training certificate (per California Penal Code Section 22835)
Taser or electronic control device training certification
De-escalation and use-of-force training beyond BSIS minimums
Prior experience supervising security teams in retail, corporate, or multi-site environments
Experience as a liaison with client and store managers (e.g., national retail accounts)
Working knowledge of Rippling and Striven, or comparable timekeeping and reporting platforms
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
Preferred Qualifications
Established relationships with Bay Area law enforcement or corporate security teams
Schedule & Structure
On-Site Leadership (4 Days per Week)
Supervise security personnel across multiple client locations, ensuring professionalism and adherence to GS3 protocols
Conduct credential and post inspections in person
Act as a liaison with client and store managers, gathering feedback and adjusting security strategies accordingly
Remote Duties (1 Day per Week)
Manage and optimize schedules and timekeeping in Rippling
Review and document security incidents to ensure reports meet GS3 and legal standards
Conduct virtual or phone check-ins with client and store managers to address security concerns
Train and onboard officers on Striven software and reporting workflows
Meetings & Performance Reviews
Weekly Incident & Training Review: meet every Tuesday with the Operations Manager to address training needs and review incidents
Monthly Performance Review: on the last Tuesday of each month, meet with the Operations Manager and Director of Operations to assess team performance and operational improvements

Compensation & Benefits
Base supervisor rate of $30.00 per hour; rates for non-supervisory assignments and specialty details vary by client contract and scope of work
$180 weekly stipend for on-call coverage
Overtime paid in accordance with California law
Paid sick leave accrual in accordance with California law (1 hour for every 30 hours worked)
Meal and rest periods provided in accordance with California Industrial Welfare Commission Wage Order 4
Paid training and ongoing recertification opportunities
Reimbursement for required business expenses in accordance with California Labor Code Section 2802
