Scope
Armed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees and visitors against criminal activity. They work on a team to control access at the entry/exit points of a local headquarters and serve as a point of contact to all visitors and patrons.
Job Description/Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Guard posts at the entry / exit points of the local base
- Conduct foot & vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds
- Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas
- Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications
- Look for suspicious persons, packages and activities
- Follow site specific post guidelines
- Document daily activities and report all incidents
- Other duties as assigned
Job Minimum Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent education certification (GED)
- Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder to perform armed security work (must be at least 21 years old)
- No felonies convictions
- No misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses
- Pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana)
- Adhere to company’s Uniform and Appearance policy
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner
- Valid State of Michigan driver’s license and clean driving record with less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, and no other major violations in the last 3 years
- Become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and capable of administering this care in emergency situations
- Pass a Physical Agility Test within 90 days of hire, and annually thereafter
- Physically and mentally sound and able to always remain alert while on duty (Armed security officers must complete a psychological evaluation upon hire)
- Able to sit, stand, and walk long distances, including navigating stairs, for the duration of the shift (8-12 hours)
- Able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons
- Able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment
- Able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments
- Able to lift up to 70lbs
- Able to work independently with little or no supervision
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Certification
- Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL)
- Michigan Driver License

- Various Days (2-3 Days Per Week), 3rd Shift (1840-0710)
