Primary Duties And Accountabilities
- Maintain qualifications for position
- Conduct patrols and inspections
- Maintain secure perimeter for site access and egress
- Monitor access to security areas
- Perform search activities
- Respond to threats and contingency events
- Perform equipment testing
- Acts as a member of an Armed Response Force
- Provide physical protection of Constellation nuclear clean energy centers
- Evaluate adversarial actions to prevent intrusion and acts of sabotage
- Conduct armed stationary, foot and/or vehicle patrol (interior and/or exterior)
- Control access and/or egress of personnel, materials and vehicles
- Monitor Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), plant surveillance equipment and alarm systems
- Deter criminal activity, misconduct, and safety violations
- Maintain and implement extensive NRC requirements and Federal/State Laws for site protection and protected area access control
- Participate in initial and annual formal training program to complete class and field qualifications necessary to be an armed Nuclear Security Officer
- Responsible for accurate documentation and record keeping, as required by federal and corporate guidelines
- Maintain thorough knowledge of plant to adequately initiate and maintain site defensive strategy
- All other job assignments and/or duties pursuant to company policy or as directed by management to include but not limited to: (Emergency Response duties and/or coverage, Department duty coverage and/or call out, and positions outside of department in support of outage activities etc.)
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age
- High School diploma or GED
- Able to obtain and maintain nuclear unescorted access
- Able to meet minimum state requirements to carry a firearm
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license
- Able to obtain and maintain a REAL ID and/or an ID that is REAL ID compliant in accordance with the REAL ID ACT
- Able to pass any State and Federal required training or other qualifications for licensing
- Able to pass a drug and alcohol test with negative results
- Able to pass extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and educational verifications, and credit check
- Able to operate a radio or telephone equipment and/or surveillance equipment
- Able to successfully complete all training required for the position, including but not limited to a physical fitness test, firearms qualification, and nuclear site-specific training and testing
- Able to demonstrate an ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
- Able to transit to work location and/or posts (Walk, Climb Stairs, Climb Ladder, Conduct Routine Rounds, etc.)
- Able to access and egress Bullet Resistant Enclosure (BRE) Towers
- Able to manually carry, lift, or handle gear <= 25 lbs. (i.e., rifle, BRE access hatch, etc.)
- Able to perform body positioning (Stand, Sit, Kneel, Bend, Squat, Reach Over Shoulder Height)
- Able to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and forced overtime
- Meet and comply with all other requirements under NRC, 10 CFR Part 26 & Appendix B to Part 73 General Criteria for Security Personnel
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military experience
- Prior law enforcement experience or Criminal Justice degree
- Prior commercial security/loss prevention experience
