Overview
Armed Security Officers, also known as Security Guards, are responsible for deterring criminal activity, protecting property, and enforcing site-specific rules and regulations. They may be assigned to monitor surveillance systems or conduct patrols of the premises to ensure safety and security. This position requires carrying and maintaining a firearm in a professional, non-threatening manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Deter criminal activity and prevent misconduct on the premises.
- Enforce site rules by warning or reporting individuals violating regulations (e.g., loitering, smoking, carrying prohibited items).
- Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to identify safety and security risks.
- Respond to alarms, emergency calls, and incidents involving unauthorized individuals, injuries, or fires.
- Notify appropriate emergency services (police, fire department, EMS) when necessary.
- Accurately complete and submit reports, records, and incident documentation in a timely manner.
- Appropriately escalate situations using force levels up to and including armed response, following company protocols.
- Maintain proficiency in the use of assigned weapons, restraint tools, and protective equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the security manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Applicable armed security certification for the state of Utah
- Minimum 1 year of armed security experience
- Minimum 3 years of customer service experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional demeanor and appearance
- Ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency
- Must own an approved firearm, duty belt, and Level 3 holster
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
Physical Requirements
- The ability to crawl, crouch, kneel, and stoop
- The ability to run and climb stairs during emergency responses
- The ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
- The ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
