Armed Security Officer

About the role
Armed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors against criminal activity. Officers at this location will work on a team to control access at the entry/exit points of a local military headquarters and serve as a point of contact for all visitors and patrons.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Guard posts at the entry/exit points of the local military base.
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
- Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications.
- Monitor for suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
- Follow site-specific post guidelines.
- Document daily activities and report all incidents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a current, valid State of Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL).
- Must have either a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must not have any felony convictions and must pass a criminal background check in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Must pass a drug test at the time of hire and annually thereafter.
- Must be a citizen of the United States of America.
- Must adhere to our Appearance and Grooming policy (impeccable grooming).
- Must present a friendly, positive, professional image.
- Must possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, and reports.
- Must have the ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner.
- Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record (less than 3 moving violations, less than 2 at-fault accidents, and no major violations in the last 3 years).
- Must be willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified.
- Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or armed security is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be physically and mentally sound.
- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for the duration of the shift, including walking long distances and possibly up and down stairs.
- Must be readily able to respond to emergency situations.
- Must be able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons.
- Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds.
- Must pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter. The PAT includes timed activities such as sprinting, sit-ups, push-ups, and a mile-and-a-half run.
- Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
Schedule
Full-time (30+ hours per week) on various days, including:
- 2nd Shift (1600–0000)
- 3rd Shift (0000–1600)
Pay
$19.89 per hour
