Armed School Security Officer - $30.00 per hour - Downingtown, PA

About the role

Cardinal Point Security Group is seeking Armed School Security Officers to provide a safe learning environment for students, staff, and faculty in Downingtown, PA. The role involves patrolling school facilities, managing incidents, controlling access, and serving as a visible deterrent to violence while upholding professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Cardinal Point Ambassador: be on time, look sharp in uniform, be engaged and consistent
• Patrol school facilities and grounds (up to 10,000 steps per day) to prevent unauthorized access, theft, or vandalism
• Coach and mentor students
• Manage incidents and apply verbal de‑escalation techniques
• Maintain orderly flow of foot traffic in hallways
• Monitor restrooms throughout the day
• Report maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel
• Serve as first responder for emergencies
• Stand post at secondary locations as required
• Identify and report suspicious activity
• Cultivate positive relationships with staff and students
• Control access points
• Monitor CCTV systems

Requirements

• Minimum five years of armed security experience
• Prior experience as Municipal Police Officer, State Trooper, Federal Police Officer, Military Police, Master at Arms, or military experience with a rank requiring a sidearm
• Valid PA Act 235 Certification
• Valid PA Concealed Carry Permit
• Own firearm that meets requirements and a Level 3 holster
• Ability to pass firearms qualification course
• Able to work well under pressure
• High School Diploma or GED
• Consent to drug screen and criminal background investigation
• Consent to obtain required clearances for working in a school setting
• No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude
• Reliable means of communication (active cell phone with mobile email access)
• Ability to comprehend and utilize English language (verbal and written)
• Reliable means of transportation
• Professional and courteous demeanor

Pay

Schedule

Monday to Friday: 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM, with occasional after‑school and weekend events; follows the school calendar, providing approximately two months off in the summer.
