Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a high-visibility presence throughout retail areas to deter theft, vandalism, and other unwanted activity.
- Conduct routine foot patrols inside and around the store or shopping center to monitor for suspicious activity or safety hazards.
- Respond to incidents involving theft, trespassing, or disturbances in a professional and appropriate manner.
- Communicate regularly with store employees, property management, and other on-site personnel to exchange updates and receive direction.
- Support loss prevention efforts by observing shoppers and reporting suspected shoplifting to appropriate personnel.
- Provide customer service as needed, including offering directions or answering basic inquiries while maintaining security priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid California Guard Card issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) is required.
- Exposed Firearm Permit Required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to remain alert and professional in a retail environment.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail security, customer service, or loss prevention.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours).
- Ability to move quickly in response to incidents.
- May be required to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Work Environment
- Work performed primarily indoors in a busy retail or shopping environment.
- Interaction with the general public, store employees, and security team members is frequent.
- Must maintain a professional demeanor in high-traffic, high-pressure situations.
