About the role

Qualcomm is seeking an experienced ARM Server Platform I/O & Interconnect Software Architect to lead the architecture and software enablement of PCIe, CXL, and Interrupt Controller subsystems for next-generation ARM server SoCs. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in ARM server architecture, PCIe and CXL technologies, interrupt controller architecture (ARM GIC), virtualization, firmware, and Linux kernel internals.

What you'll do

  • Own the software architecture for PCIe, CXL, and Interrupt Controller subsystems across ARM server platforms, including architecture definition, requirements, enablement strategy, and ecosystem alignment.
  • Drive architecture and software enablement across firmware and HLOS components including: UEFI/EDK2, Arm Trusted Firmware (TF-A), OpenBMC, Linux Kernel, KVM/Hypervisors, and datacenter operating systems and distributions.
  • Collaborate closely with SoC architects, CPU architects, hardware design teams, firmware teams, Linux kernel engineers, validation teams, and product management to deliver production-quality solutions.
  • Define platform software requirements necessary to achieve compliance with industry standards and specifications including: ARM SBSA, SBBR, SystemReady, PCI-SIG specifications, CXL Consortium specifications, ACPI, and UEFI.
  • Lead architecture reviews and drive software requirements into silicon, firmware, and platform design teams to ensure software-first design decisions.
  • Partner with performance, RAS, and validation teams to define system-level debug, telemetry, error handling, fault isolation, and recovery strategies.
  • Drive upstream-first software development and collaborate with the open-source ecosystem to ensure long-term maintainability and broad OS support.
  • Work directly with hyperscale cloud customers, OEMs, ODMs, and ecosystem partners to understand requirements, review architectural solutions, and support platform commercialization.
  • Prepare and present architecture proposals, design specifications, technical roadmaps, and executive-level reviews for internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 4+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems software, platform firmware, operating systems, or SoC architecture.
  • Strong understanding of ARM64 server architecture and modern server platform design.
  • Hands-on experience with: PCIe architecture and software enablement, CXL architecture and ecosystem, ARM GIC interrupt architecture, and IOMMU/SMMU technologies.
  • Strong familiarity with: Linux kernel internals and device drivers, KVM and virtualization technologies, platform firmware (UEFI/EDK2, TF-A, BMC firmware), and ACPI and platform discoverability mechanisms.
  • Experience driving cross-functional architecture initiatives across hardware and software organizations.
  • 15+ years of experience in software development & design for commercially deployed compute platforms.
  • Deep expertise in multiple areas including: PCIe Gen5/Gen6/Gen7, CXL 2.x/3.x, ARM GICv3/v4, SMMUv3, ARM virtualization architecture, and Server RAS technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of ARM architectures for various compute environments and relevant ARM (BSA, BBR, BBSR) and NIST specifications.
  • Understanding of confidential computing technologies and trusted firmware architectures.
  • Prior experience delivering platform software for hyperscalers, cloud service providers, OEMs, or datacenter infrastructure products.
  • Demonstrated leadership in open-source software communities and upstream Linux development.
