About the role

The successful candidate will lead the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) program at Arizona State University.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation and administration of NAGPRA compliance policies and procedures.
• Manage the repatriation process for human remains and associated funerary objects.
• Collaborate with academic departments and research units to ensure compliance with NAGPRA regulations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with tribal representatives and community stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and support to faculty, staff, and students regarding NAGPRA requirements.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Anthropology, History, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in NAGPRA compliance or related fields.
• Experience working with Native American communities and tribes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of NAGPRA legislation and its implementation.
• Experience with data management and record-keeping systems.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with project management tools and software.
