About the role
The successful candidate will lead the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) program at Arizona State University.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and administration of NAGPRA compliance policies and procedures.
- Manage the repatriation process for human remains and associated funerary objects.
- Collaborate with academic departments and research units to ensure compliance with NAGPRA regulations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with tribal representatives and community stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to faculty, staff, and students regarding NAGPRA requirements.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Anthropology, History, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in NAGPRA compliance or related fields.
- Experience working with Native American communities and tribes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of NAGPRA legislation and its implementation.
- Experience with data management and record-keeping systems.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with project management tools and software.
