About the Role

As a Team Lead, you will oversee a staff of production employees and coordinate internal and external resources to ensure safe and smooth operations. You will communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, support seasonal production activities, monitor product quality and inventory, and ensure adherence to established standards and quality plans. By proactively preparing workforce, equipment, and materials for upcoming shifts, maintaining accurate records, and partnering with leadership on workforce planning and improvement initiatives, you will help keep operations running smoothly.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure effective communication with all levels of the team to ensure messages are accurate and complete
  • Support all seasonal production operations
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable standards in production areas
  • Monitor product quality to ensure ongoing compliance with the Quality Plan
  • Proactively plan to ensure the workforce, equipment, and materials are prepared and available for upcoming process orders and shifts
  • Inventory management
  • Provide input and support to the management team as needed on capital projects, focused improvement initiatives, workforce planning, and scheduling
  • Ensure that all assigned records, documents, and reports are accurately complete
  • Serve as a production technician as needed to support operations
  • Assume shift supervisor responsibilities during their absence
  • Various other duties as assigned

  • Actively support team members in understanding, applying, and adhering to established processes and work instructions
  • Lead and champion continuous process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for increased safety, efficiency, quality, and operational effectiveness, while fostering a culture of innovation and accountability

Education

Highschool Diploma/GED

Required Skills & Experience

  • Has experience in manufacturing, operations, production, agriculture, or related fields
  • Demonstrates exceptional skills in building rapport and trust with colleagues
  • Communicates effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Leads by example and consistently approach problems as opportunities to identify and implement effective solutions
  • Possesses strong computer skills that enable effective analysis and interpretation of data using a variety of tools
  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours, rotating shifts, and overtime hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed during seasonal peaks to support business needs

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and sit for extended periods
  • Work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions
  • Lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Perform work that involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting
  • Exposure to dust and plant allergens including but not limited to corn, sunflower, cotton, and canola pollen and protein and sorghum as well as potential mold spores and/or chemicals in the course of your duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • An associate degree, two-year technical diploma/degree
  • Supervisory experience across multiple production processes and leadership skills
  • Experience with SAP or equivalent manufacturing operations software
  • Forklift operations experience
  • Experience with LEAN Manufacturing operations and projects
  • Experience with problem solving and implementation of solutions and corrective actions
