Area Supervisor, New Construction Start-Up Commission
About the role
This position is responsible for supervising System Operations technicians in the assigned geographical area. Essential duties include recruiting, interviewing, and training new employees; working in the field with assigned technicians; conducting safety meetings and inspections; answering technical questions; counseling technicians; managing staffing and vacation requests; mentoring and developing future supervisors; coordinating with different departments; ensuring projects are completed on schedule; confirming company QA/QC protocols; attending job site meetings; supporting the System Operations General Manager with assessing project schedules and manpower requirements; and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, interview, and train new employees
- Work in the field with assigned technicians on a routine basis
- Hold monthly safety meetings and enforce safety guidelines and procedures
- Answer technical questions from field mechanics, engineering, PM personnel
- Counsel technicians when customer relations issues arise or internal procedures have not been followed
- Balance workloads to keep appropriate skill level on jobs as needed
- Manage staffing and vacation requests to assure fulfilling project obligations
- Mentor, train, and develop future supervisors (succession planning)
- Counsel and mentor technicians when internal procedures have not been followed
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with different departments within ACCO
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule
- Confirm company QA/QC protocols are met
- Attend job site meetings and provide input to GC, PM, and GF
- Implement Safety Department’s protocols
- Support System Operations General Manager with assessing project schedules and manpower requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the System Operations General Manager
Requirements
- High school diploma, Certificate of G.E.D., or certificate of completion in an apprenticeship program in HVAC & refrigeration, or similar trade or technical program completion
- Four or more years as a commercial HVAC Journeyperson Technician
- Self-motivated, energetic, ambitious, and have a positive attitude
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with other technicians/team members
- Ability to utilize a personal computer
- Occasional overtime and weekends will be required
- Willingness and ability to attend ACCO and Union training sessions (signatory sponsorship will be provided to non-signatory applicants hired for the position)
- Valid (non-commercial) driver's license with MVR that meets ACCO's risk insurance standards
Qualifications

Pay
This position is for signatory employees and wages will be in alignment with the current Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Schedule
Regular work hours are typically Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime and weekends as needed. Specific hours may vary based on project needs.
