About the role

The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding and practicing safe behaviors, immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
  • Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
  • Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
  • Maintain customer safety by preventing accidents, reporting accidents, and following emergency procedures.
  • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
  • Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
  • Manage the front end of the store, ensuring associates execute to Company standards, maintaining pace and energy, and managing the line to expedite customer wait time.
  • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front-end procedures.
  • Manage cash pulls and bank deposits according to Company policy, and ensure proper supplies and recovery for the front-end area.
  • Ensure go-backs are expedited, properly scanned, security tagged, and ticketed.
  • Teach all associates the "Scan and Bag" best practice.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end, aisle tables, Men's/Women's 4-way features, and specialty racks.
  • Manage fitting rooms, ensuring all garment tags are audited and accounted for to Company policy, and ensuring go-back compliance throughout the day.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including conducting cash pulls and bank deposits, controlling break schedules, and ensuring proper supplies and recovery for the front-end area.
  • Manage stockroom shifts if applicable, ensuring associates can push, pull, and lift more than 20 lbs.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
