About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store. This position is vital for maintaining a safe, secure, and customer-friendly environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Manage customer safety, accident prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
- Ensure all areas of the store are clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard, and assist with daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per Company best practice.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency, handle non-merchandise inbound deliveries, and help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area, execute floor moves and signing, and re-wrap as needed.
- Manage the front end, ensuring Associates execute to Company standards, maintaining pace, energy, and "presence" at the front end, managing the line to expedite customer wait time, and training on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front-end procedures.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring all garment tags are audited and accounted for to Company policy, and ensuring go-back compliance throughout the day.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including conducting cash pulls and bank deposits, controlling front-end operations, and ensuring proper supplies and recovery for the front-end area.
- Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end, aisle tables, Men's/Women's 4-way features, and specialty racks.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
