About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store. This position requires a deep understanding of safety, customer service, merchandising, loss prevention, and front-end supervision.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by practicing safe behaviors and immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Ensure the store is a welcoming and organized space by keeping areas clean and merchandised to standard.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed, including security checks, cash office security, and handling of deliveries.
- Manage associates by training, coaching, and ensuring adherence to Company standards.
- Support the store's brand by representing Ross in a professional manner and maintaining a clean appearance.
- Oversee loss prevention efforts by maintaining a high level of customer and associate engagement and adhering to the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
- Supervise the front end by controlling the pace and energy of the line, managing break schedules, and ensuring proper equipment and supplies are available.
- Manage fitting rooms by ensuring their cleanliness and compliance with Company policies.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including cash pull and bank deposit conduct, and payroll administration.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
