About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding safety as the top priority and practicing safe behaviors.
- Create a safe and secure shopping environment for customers by maintaining a high level of awareness on the sales floor.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Manage customer safety by preventing accidents, reporting accidents, and following emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
- Ensure all areas of the store are clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard, removing clutter and ensuring safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency, handling receiving merchandise trucks, non-merchandise inbound deliveries, and back-stock processing.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area, executing floor moves and signing, and re-wrapping as needed.
- Manage loss prevention by maintaining a high customer service presence, engaging associates and enhancing loss prevention awareness.
- Supervise front-end operations, ensuring associates execute to Company standards, controlling wait times, and training on cash registers and shortage control policies.
- Oversee fitting rooms, ensuring garment tags are audited and accounted for to Company policy, and enforcing go-back compliance.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including conducting cash pulls, bank deposits, and managing break schedules.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
