About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by understanding and practicing safe behaviors, immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Ensure the security of the building, including controlling Associate entry/egress, receiving door, daily trash removal, EAS device daily function checks, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick-ups, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Respond to customer needs and concerns, treating all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect and professionalism.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
- Manage the front-end operations, ensuring associates execute to Company standards, maintaining pace, energy, and "presence" at the front end, managing the line to expedite customer wait time, and training associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front-end procedures.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring all garments are audited and accounted for to Company policy, and enforcing go-back compliance throughout the day.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including conducting cash pulls and bank deposits, managing front-end controls, and handling payroll administration.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
