Area Superintendent
About the role
The Area Superintendent (AS) is responsible for supervision of a specific area of the project. The AS is responsible for establishing and achieving the project goals related to all areas of field management including schedule, budget, safety, quality, and the development of personnel.
Responsibilities
- Coverage of the project area, supervision, and mentoring of the workforce.
- Coordination and collaboration with trade partners.
- Participation in weekly schedule and management meetings with trade partners.
- Enforcement of the site-specific safety plan and adherence to safety principles.
- Creation and review of AHAs/STAs for self-performed work.
- Maintenance of the four-week schedule for their area to ensure timely project completion.
- Accurate record-keeping of costs and production.
- Development and implementation of material handling and site utilization plans.
- Coordination with project engineers and office engineers on material needs, RFIs, etc.
- Inspection and verification of materials received.
- Ensuring quality control and setting high standards for the company and trade partners.
- Management of the punch list process for owner acceptance at project turnover.
- Building relationships with the owner, architect, engineer, and trade partners.
- Participation in project coordination meetings.
- Collaboration with BIM and VDC engineers for issue resolution.
Requirements
- A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
- Minimum of 5-6 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Strong communication skills.
- Computer proficiency - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera, and the AutoDesk Suite.
- Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 Certification.
- CPR & First Aid Certification.
