Amazon · Aurora, CO · 1 wk ago
DistributionFull-time

Application deadline: August 21, 2026

About the role

We are looking for motivated, customer-focused individuals to join our team as an Area Manager in Amazon's Worldwide Operations network. In this role, you will lead a team of hourly employees, ensuring the highest levels of safety, quality, attendance, and performance while maintaining customer delivery expectations. Our operations workflow includes:

  • First mile: where the product is housed and ready for order
  • Middle mile: where the order is hauled to your area
  • Last mile: when the product is delivered to the customer’s door

Note that workflows may vary slightly by location, but our commitment to customer satisfaction remains constant.

Responsibilities

  • Support, mentor, and motivate your team to meet performance goals
  • Manage safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Safety, Operations Integration, Loss Prevention, and Human Resources) to develop and execute business plans
  • Lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
  • Climb and descend stairs continuously in environments with varying noise levels and temperatures (including outdoor loading areas and refrigerated spaces)
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and/or overnight shifts

A day in the life

Your day begins with a safety walkthrough and shift startup to prepare your team for meeting customer delivery promises. You’ll spend most of your time on the floor, coaching associates on safety protocols and quality standards while monitoring real-time productivity and package flow metrics.

Throughout your shift, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners—such as Safety teams (incident prevention), HR (attendance and engagement), and process improvement teams—to address challenges like labor deployment, equipment issues, or operational barriers.

A key part of your role is developing your team through one-on-one meetings, real-time feedback, and performance recognition. You’ll analyze data to identify trends, lead team huddles to communicate priorities, and ensure every package meets Amazon’s quality standards before reaching the customer.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in employee and performance management
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques

Pay

Base salary range: $70,000 – $90,900 USD annually (for Aurora, CO). Your total compensation package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final pay determined by experience, qualifications, and location.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage)
  • Basic Life & AD&D insurance, with optional supplemental life plans
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and mental health support
  • Medical Advice Line and Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Adoption and surrogacy reimbursement coverage
  • 401(k) matching
  • Paid time off and parental leave
