About the role

The Area lead nurse will guide and inspire the support team through developmental activities. They will assist in clinic performance and health, ensuring optimal patient care, medical quality standards, and operational efficiency. This role involves being a partner of the clinic leadership team, actively participating in developing and administering initiatives and training programs, and advocating for the support team.

Core Clinical LVT Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthetics and prepare patients for surgery and dental procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and scent-free environment for patients and hospital areas.
  • Take radiographs and perform clinical laboratory procedures.
  • Answer client questions about various aspects of animal care, up to a certain level.
  • Prepare and administer medications according to veterinarian instructions.

Training Responsibilities

  • Train nursing staff and uphold medical quality metrics.
  • Aid in the hiring of nurses for clinics overseen by managers.
  • Coordinate onboarding programs for the nursing team.
  • Support new clinic launches and train new staff.
  • Maintain a skills checklist and development roadmap for nurses.
  • Develop or source training materials and lectures for team members.
  • Deliver CE training and hold events to support recruitment efforts.

Qualifications

  • CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT certification.
  • 4+ years experience as a veterinary technician.
  • Previous managerial experience in a veterinary clinic or similar healthcare setting.
