Area Director of Sales
About the Role
The Area Director of Sales & Marketing directs all aspects of sales, including analyzing and achieving strategic objectives and business growth potential for hotels within a designated area. This role oversees staff, sales operations, accounting/budgeting, asset protection, inventory control, and human resources. The position ensures alignment with the General Manager, Company goals, brand standards, and local, state, and national regulations while focusing on quality service, financial goals, and day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities include recommending the Sales budget, marketing/business plans, and capital expenditures, as well as managing within approved plans. This position directly manages assigned staff and indirectly manages all subordinates, articulating and uniting the team around Company goals. The role requires close collaboration with management across assigned hotels and the Company to deliver timely, high-quality service to customers and guests.
Responsibilities

- Oversee staff, sales, accounting/budgeting, asset protection, inventory control, and human resources.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations.
- Develop and recommend the Sales budget, marketing/business plans, and capital expenditures.
- Manage operations within approved plans and objectives.
- Lead and motivate staff to achieve and exceed Company goals.
- Work closely with management across assigned hotels and the Company.
- Deliver quality and timely service to customers and guests.
- Handle competing priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Effectively schedule, manage, and delegate work.
- Interview, hire, motivate, develop, and address staff performance matters.
- Travel as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school education plus a degree in sales & marketing, hospitality management, or a related field.
- Five or more years of related experience, with familiarity in hospitality industry practices preferred.
- Substantial and successful track record in profitable sales management while maintaining professional integrity.
- Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and hospitality principles and practices.
- Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret data to make sound business decisions.
- Strong verbal, written, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Ability to assess customer needs, understand market dynamics, and prepare tailored presentations/proposals.
- Proficiency in meeting/exceeding expectations for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals, and closes.
- Ability to achieve customer satisfaction and handle competing priorities under pressure.
- Professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality in all interactions.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Must satisfy and comply with legal requirements for employment within the jurisdiction.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort
- Work is primarily performed in an interior environment with some travel required.
- Job duties involve speaking, listening, completing documents, and operating office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, fax, etc.).
- Physical requirements include extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises may occur.
- Close vision (with or without corrective lenses) is required.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and travel periodically.
