Area Director of Human Resources
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Human Resources professional with a minimum of five years of experience within the luxury resort or hospitality industry. This role requires a hands-on, strategic leader who can balance operational execution with forward-thinking talent strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Committee and department leaders
- Develop and execute HR strategies that align with business objectives and elevate the employee experience
- Champion a culture rooted in Forbes Travel Guide service expectations and company core values
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts, including management and executive-level hiring
- Oversee international recruiting initiatives, including H-2B and J-1 visa programs
- Partner with department leaders to forecast staffing needs and maintain optimal workforce levels
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Provide guidance and resolution on employee relations matters with professionalism and discretion
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Maintain consistent, legally defensible HR practices across the organization
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll
- Oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Administer and communicate benefit programs, ensuring a high level of employee understanding and engagement
- Partner with leadership on compensation strategies that support attraction and retention
Performance Management & Talent Development
- Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and calibration
- Drive talent development initiatives, succession planning, and leadership development programs
- Support managers with coaching tools and resources to enhance team performance
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts aligned with company values
- Foster an inclusive culture where all team members feel valued and respected
Worker’s Compensation & Risk Management
- Manage workers’ compensation programs, including claims administration and return-to-work initiatives
- Partner with leadership to promote a safe and compliant workplace
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources leadership experience in a luxury resort, hotel, or hospitality environment
Comprehensive knowledge of HR disciplines, including recruiting, international visa programs, employment law, payroll, benefits, and employee relations
Proven experience managing H-2B and/or J-1 visa programs strongly preferred
Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
