Area Director

About the role

The Area Director leads the operations of the assigned Clubs in support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale's mission and goals. They collaborate with the COO in developing organizational goals, managing resources, and establishing policies. The Area Director provides direction to staff in carrying out key roles and oversees safety, high-quality programming, and outcomes for children ages 5-18.

Responsibilities

• Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale.
• Assumes management responsibility for all staff members and volunteers working at the clubs.
• Hires, compensates, retains, recognizes, and trains staff under direct supervision.
• Manages annual safety inspections.
• Safeguards and promotes high-quality programs and services that prepare youth and staff for success.
• Manages financial resources, budget, staff, and facilities.
• Develops and implements an effective Boys & Girls Club program organization-wide.
• Ensures continuous quality improvement and reviews data around average daily attendance and programming results.
• Develops and maintains public relations for all assigned Branches.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ operations experience.
• Ability to inspire trust and motivate teams using strong communication, developmental, and interpersonal skills and abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications.
• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with recruitment, selection, development, management, and evaluation of staff.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and implement effective operations.
• Strong leadership skills, including negotiation, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and delegation.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and/or collaborative partnerships with Board members, Club staff, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.
• Faultless ethics and integrity.
• Safety-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Experience working in a non-profit setting.
