About the role
The Academic Skills Center Tutor - Non-Certified position at Peachcrest Elementary School provides focused tutoring support in various content areas and supports students in developing executive functioning skills. Tutors work during the regular school day, collaborating with the Lead ASC Tutor, colleagues, and educators to tutor students.
Responsibilities
- Provides tutoring support to small groups of students assigned to the Academic Skills Centers.
- Collaborates with the Lead ASC Tutor, fellow staff, volunteer tutors, and Assistant Principal to identify appropriate resources, strategies, tools, etc. to assist students in unfinished learning.
- Aids students in setting individual goals and helps them monitor their progress towards achieving these goals.
- Guides students through engaging with appropriate learning activities, resources, and/or supports.
- Maintains a safe learning environment by monitoring student behavior and modeling appropriate social and interpersonal behaviors.
- Prepares and maintains accurate documentation of student progress.
- Communicates and collaborates with educators and families to keep them informed about student progress.
- Participates in professional learning sessions as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of three (3) years of experience required working with children. High school diploma or GED equivalent required for non-certified tutors. Certified tutors must have a valid Professional Standards Commission-approved certificate in the appropriate educational field at level T-4 or above.

Skills
Effective communication, organization, and interpersonal skills are essential. Knowledge of child development and learning theories is beneficial.
