About the Role

Henderson Mill ES is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable and have a strong desire to help students learn. The primary responsibility is to implement, deliver and promote high academic expectations to all students. The candidate must work collaboratively with team members and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide small group and/or individualized instruction to students in accordance with lesson plans developed by the teacher.
• Assist teachers with daily classroom management activities designed to ensure behavior conducive to an effective learning environment.
• Assist teachers with assessment of student performance (standardized and non‑standardized testing) and other recordkeeping tasks.
• Assist teachers with the development and organization of appropriate instructional materials for use with students and ensure the availability of these materials prior to scheduled instructional segments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college courses completed with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from a Professional Standards Commission‑approved accredited college or university, or a high school diploma/GED and a passing score on the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) Paraprofessional Assessment.

Licenses/Certificates

• Must obtain a valid Professional Standards Commission‑approved paraprofessional certificate.
