This architecture firm in Topeka, KS is hiring a Project Manager to lead projects from concept through construction closeout. The role oversees schedules, budgets, client communication, and quality across multidisciplinary teams, and includes mentoring emerging professionals within the firm.

About the role

The Project Manager will lead projects through the full lifecycle, including planning, programming, design development, construction documents, bidding and negotiation, construction administration, and closeout.

  • Develop work plans, track milestones, forecast fees, review invoices, and proactively address risks and changes
  • Serve as the primary client liaison: set expectations, lead presentations, and deliver consistent updates to ensure a strong client experience
  • Direct architects, interior designers, and consultants (structural, MEP, civil, and others) to maintain design cohesion and technical accuracy
  • Assist with proposals, consultant agreement negotiation, and contract compliance tracking
  • Oversee QA/QC reviews, code analysis, and permitting documentation to ensure compliance with firm standards and industry best practices
  • During construction administration: review submittals, respond to RFIs, issue ASIs, PRs, and COs, conduct site visits and punch lists, and author field observation reports
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Maintain organized project files, meeting minutes, decision logs, and status reports
  • Mentor and manage staff, including delegating tasks and supporting professional development

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field
  • 8+ years of architectural experience, including at least 2 years leading projects or teams
  • Registered Architect (RA) license (Kansas licensure, or ability to obtain Kansas licensure, required)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Strong planning, communication, and mentoring skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project), Bluebeam, and design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Photoshop
  • Strong financial acumen, including cost control and budget oversight

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP)
  • Experience mentoring junior architects or project staff
  • Experience with stakeholder management on multidisciplinary project teams

Schedule

Full time, in office in Topeka, KS.

Pay

$90,000 to $125,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
