Salary: $100,000 – $130,000

About the role

This position is ideal for an accomplished architect or architectural project leader who understands how to successfully deliver projects but is ready to operate from the owner’s perspective rather than within a traditional architecture firm.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Projects from the Owner’s Perspective
    • Manage multiple capital projects from early feasibility and programming through design, permitting, construction, and closeout.
    • Establish project priorities, milestones, and design objectives while leading architectural planning and key design decisions from the owner’s perspective.
    • Ensure each project aligns with operational needs, business objectives, and established design standards while maintaining accountability for quality, budget, schedule, and successful project delivery.
  • Manage Architects, Engineers & Consultants
    • Direct Architects, Engineers & Consultants.
    • Manage and provide direction to external architecture, engineering, and specialty consultants throughout project development.
    • Establish expectations for deliverables, schedules, and quality while holding consultants accountable for project milestones and contractual commitments.
    • Lead design reviews and provide technical guidance from the owner’s perspective.
    • Drive Design Quality & Project Performance
      • Review architectural and engineering designs for quality, coordination, constructability, functionality, and cost while proactively identifying potential issues and project risks.
      • Coordinate decisions among stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure design solutions remain aligned with overall project goals.
    • Manage Budgets, Schedules & Risk
      • Maintain project budgets, forecasts, expenditures, change orders, and critical milestones while evaluating potential impacts to cost, schedule, design, and operations.
      • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks and provide leadership with clear reporting on project status, financial performance, schedule, and key concerns.

Qualifications

  • Architectural foundation with 10–15+ years of project leadership experience on projects and managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • Architectural licensure strongly preferred.
  • Background in sectors such as hospitality, retail, mixed-use, healthcare, corporate, or other sophisticated commercial environments.
  • Understanding of architectural design, engineering coordination, permitting, building codes, construction, and project delivery.
  • Able to manage outside architecture and engineering consultants.
  • Review and challenge consultant recommendations.
  • Design quality control and technical oversight.
  • Communicate with senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Make decisions involving design, cost, schedule, and operations.
