About the role
The Architectural Estimator supports the profitability and successful execution of projects during the preconstruction and bidding phases. This role prepares detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural and architectural scopes of work and collaborates closely with project management, operations, and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Interpret contract drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for structural and architectural components
- Prepare accurate conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates
- Solicit, analyze, and evaluate subcontractor, vendor, and supplier pricing
- Develop bid summaries, scope comparisons, and leveling sheets
- Identify constructability issues, risks, and value engineering opportunities
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and owners during Preconstruction
- Auxiliary with change order pricing and cost impact analysis
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and pricing models
- Support bid strategy development and participate in bid reviews
- All other duties as needed and assigned by management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in construction estimating with structural and/or architectural scopes
- Experience estimating industrial, heavy civil, or complex commercial projects preferred
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with labor productivity, material pricing, and subcontractor markets
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, HCSS, or similar)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills

$80,000 – $100,000 annually
