Architectural Drafter - Surface Design
About the role
We’re looking for an Architectural Drafter to join our Building Envelope Architecture team. In this role, you’ll contribute technical design expertise to new construction AutoCAD drawings for new high-rise buildings. You’ll work closely with project managers, architects, consultants, and clients to help deliver efficient, code-compliant, and high-quality building envelope solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead or assist in all phases of building envelope projects—from investigation and design through construction administration and close-out.
- Support the architecture team by preparing and reviewing construction documents, AutoCAD drawings, and detail packages.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting throughout project lifecycles, including field inspections and quality control.
- Stay up to date on NYC Building Codes, zoning regulations, and preservation standards.
Requirements
- 3-10 years of experience in building envelope, façade, or restoration work.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
- Familiarity with NYC Building Codes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Preferred
- Professional Licensure (RA or PE).
- OSHA 10 training.
- NYC DOB 4-Hour Supported Scaffold and/or 16-Hour Suspended Scaffold User Certifications.
Work Environment & Schedule
This position is based in New York City, with an onsite schedule. Standard working hours are Monday- Friday, 9:00 AM- 6:00 PM. Travel requirements: Minimal.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000, based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
