Architectural Designer
About the role
Join a Top 10 global design firm in our multi-sector Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, and Interior Design services with a long history and deep commitment to the Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, and Science & Technology sectors. We are seeking an Architectural Designer to join our buildings practice.
Responsibilities
- Keeps the Project Manager informed of progress on expectations, deadlines, and deliverables that fall within their responsibility.
- Participates in team meetings, charrettes and coordination sessions.
- Aids in monitoring and coordination of consultant work and deadlines.
- Aids in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
- Utilizes Autodesk Revit and other BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
- Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.
- Aids in coordinating building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
- Aids in contract administration tasks.
- Attends project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
- Implements sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment.
- Aids in site analysis, research of concept, benchmarks, typology, and precedents.
Qualifications
- Capable of simultaneously supporting multiple Project Managers on multiple projects.
- General understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
- Comfortable working independently and taking direction well, however, proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction.
- Manages multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Team player with the client, entire project team and contractor.
- Good communicator.
- Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, InDesign and Photoshop; Prefer experience with Enscape, SketchUP, Newforma.
Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- 3-7 years of experience.
- LEED Green Associate or LEED AP desired but not required.

At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
